Priest-in-Charge

Greg Syler lives in Valley Lee with his family, and he’s been here since 2007 – first as rector of St. George’s, then St. George’s and Ascension (Resurrection Parish). In 2021, he became priest-in-charge of All Saints in Avenue, MD. Greg enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends. He has a particular interest in emerging missional opportunities throughout St. Mary’s County. He works with Department of Social Services as the coordinator of Circles St. Mary’s County, based at Church of the Ascension. He serves on many boards and leadership positions with the Diocese of Washington.




Rev’d Laura Carpenter

Deacon & Seminarian

 

Deacon Laura was called to serve as Deacon & Seminarian at Resurrection Parish in 2024 and has served as Deacon at All Saints’ Church since 2021. Ordained in the Diocese of Maryland in 2020, Laura served two parishes in Calvert County as well as All Saints’ in St. Mary’s County. Laura is the Assistant Principal at Benjamin Banneker School in Loveville, and has served as a teacher and administrator in the St. Mary’s County Public School System for nearly 30 years. A postulant for the priesthood in the Diocese of Washington – where she is now canonically resident – Laura has begun a low-residency, three-year M.Div. program at The General Theological Seminary, the Episcopal Church’s oldest seminary. Laura has gifts and a real passion for community-development and Christian formation, and her leadership as both deacon and seminarian are invaluable for Resurrection Parish and All Saints’. Laura lives in Leonardtown with her family. 



Rev'd Joan Crittenden

Deacon


Joan was ordained in the Diocese of Washington in September 2018. She has served in congregations in Prince George’s and Charles County before Resurrection Parish. She became an Episcopalian 30 years ago at Church of the Ascension where she served on many Lay Ministries. Deacon Joan was called to All Saints in 2021. She celebrates at All Saint's services on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. She serves with the Altar Guild and Worship teams. Her passion is for pastoral care, prayer, and healing.  Joan and her husband, Ron have two daughters, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She resides in La Plata, MD.

Jennifer Hepp
Parish Administrator

 

Jennifer grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada and had a diverse career in administrative roles across the country. While studying dental hygiene in Halifax, Nova Scotia she met her husband, Noel, who was working on the V22 Osprey Program. They were married in 2005 and moved to Southern Maryland in 2006. A devoted mother, Jennifer, has, for the last 14 years, homeschooled her seven children and has delighted in helping them grow and develop. Now a proud grandmother to one, she enjoys family time in activities such as camping, kayaking and gardening. Jennifer's life centers around faith, family and creating lasting memories with those she loves.
